On July 6th, China Shipbuilding International and DNV GL held a signing ceremony for the inspection contracts of three 119900 ton dual fuel oil tankers. Knut Ø rbeck Nilssen, CEO of DNV GL, witnessed the signing through real-time video conferencing. Guests and leaders including Norbert Kray, President of DNV GL China, Hou Juzhen, Marketing Director of China, Zhou Xuhui, Deputy General Manager of CSSC International, and Zhou Mushun, Chief Engineer, attended the signing ceremony.
At the signing ceremony, Chen Zhongqian, Chairman of CSSC International, and Knut Ø rbeck Nilssen, CEO of DNV GL, had an online conversation.
Chen Zhongqian said that in the face of the sudden COVID-19 this year, the surveyors of DNV GL classification society in China, the drawing review center and Guangzhou Shipbuilding International fully cooperated with Guangzhou Shipbuilding International to carry out the work of resuming construction and production, ensuring that the products of ships under construction that the company was classified as DNV GL classification society were delivered on schedule. Chen Zhongqian expressed sincere gratitude to DNV GL and CSSC International for overcoming difficulties together, and paid sincere respect to DNV GL for their support and assistance in the resumption of work and production at CSSC International.
Chen Zhongqian pointed out that this "Cloud Witness Signing" not only realizes the joint progress and win-win cooperation between the two companies, but also marks another milestone in their strategic cooperation. I believe that with mutual trust, concerted efforts, and close cooperation as always, this project will surely become another exemplary work in the history of cooperation between the two sides.
Knut Ø rbeck Nilssen highly praised GSSC International for actively implementing the epidemic prevention and control measures and vigorously promoting the resumption of production after the COVID-19. All production and operation work presented a good situation of prosperity. The COVID-19 has not only increased many adverse effects on the ship market, but also effectively promoted the digital transformation of the ship industry. DNV GL and CSSC International have an unbreakable strategic partnership and are very willing to share their achievements and advantages in digitalization with CSSC International, contributing to the high-quality development of CSSC International and the rapid development of DNV GL.
It is reported that since DNV GL first entered Guangzhou Shipbuilding International in 1997 to supervise the construction of the first bulk cargo ship, the "GREAT Success", the two sides have walked side by side for 23 years. In October last year, the two sides signed a classification agreement for the 150th ship. Since then, they have collaborated on the construction of various types of ships, including oil tankers, bulk carriers, semi submersible ships, roll on/roll off ships, and polar heavy-duty deck transport ships. Together, they have built the world's first polar heavy-duty deck transport ship that meets the year-round navigation requirements of the Arctic route and the world's first "natural gas/fuel" dual fuel high-speed luxury passenger roll on/roll off ship.
On October 17, 2019, CSSC International and DNV GL signed the 150th ship classification agreement. In December last year, CSSC International also signed an AI-NDT technology joint development agreement with DNV GL, jointly researching and utilizing the latest artificial intelligence technology to achieve automatic detection and evaluation of RT digital images. This is a specific work achievement in deepening the strategic cooperation agreement between the two sides. On December 4, 2019, at the China International Maritime Technology Conference and Exhibition in Shanghai, CSSC International and DNV GL signed a joint development agreement for AI-NDT technology.
