After the official establishment of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Limited, it has received its first large order. Hudong Zhonghua and Jiangnan Shipbuilding will build the world's largest ultra large container ship for Taiwan Evergreen Marine.
On the afternoon of November 26th, Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. and Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., both subsidiaries of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, signed contracts with Evergreen Group to construct two 23000TEU ultra large container ships in Taipei. This is the first time that Evergreen Shipping has placed an order to build a super large container ship from a shipyard in mainland China.
Zhang Zhengyong, Chairman of Evergreen Shipping, Xie Huiquan, General Manager, Wu Guanghui, Chief Deputy General Manager, Li Hongtao, Chairman of China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd., Chen Jianliang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Hudong Zhonghua, and Lin Ou, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Jiangnan Shipbuilding, attended the signing ceremony.
These four 23000TEU ultra large container ships were all independently designed and constructed by Hudong Zhonghua. This type of container ship is currently the largest ship in the world in terms of container capacity and deadweight tonnage, with a total of 23888 containers. It is equipped with a hybrid desulfurization device and designed with the latest green, environmentally friendly, efficient, energy-saving, and safe technologies. The unique "Hudong Linglong" bulbous bow scheme, large-diameter propellers, and energy-saving ducts fully reflect the ship's fast performance and low energy consumption, once again demonstrating Hudong Zhonghua's strong design capabilities.
Hudong Zhonghua is the strongest shipbuilding company in China in terms of comprehensive construction strength. It is the only company in China that builds the world's most advanced large-scale LNG ships and a leader in building a full range of container ships in China. With rich experience in design and construction, it has gained high market recognition and has delivered more than 50 large container ships of over 8000 TEU. Currently, it is building the world's first LNG powered 23000 TEU container ship.
Independent innovation, striving to achieve new breakthroughs in core technology and high-end product research and development, is the "ballast stone" for Shanghai East China to maintain strong competitiveness and the "stabilizer" for high-quality development. The 23000TEU ultra large container ship is a high-end product independently designed by Hudong Zhonghua, highlighting China's innovative and surpassing capabilities in high-end marine equipment manufacturing. It is a landmark event in the high-quality development of China's shipbuilding industry.

Hudong Zhonghua will fully leverage the cooperation advantages of China Shipbuilding Group and work together with Jiangnan Shipbuilding to strictly follow standards, ensuring the high-quality construction and timely delivery of 23000TEU ultra large container ships.
It is reported that in September this year, Evergreen Marine disclosed plans to build 10 23000TEU ultra large container ships. Among them, Evergreen Shipping will order 2 ships from Samsung Heavy Industries, Evergreen Hong Kong, a subsidiary of Evergreen Shipping, will order 2 ships from Jiangnan Shipbuilding, and another subsidiary, Qingbiao Shipping, will order 4 ships from Samsung Heavy Industries and 2 ships from Hudong Zhonghua. The cost of these 23000TEU container ships is approximately $140 million to $160 million per ship, with a total transaction value of approximately $1.4 billion to $1.6 billion.
In October of this year, Samsung Heavy Industries signed a construction contract with EVA Shipping for six new ships, each with a length of 400 meters, a width of 61.5 meters, a height of 33.2 meters, a capacity of 23764 TEUs, and a total contract value of 920 million US dollars.
