On March 24th, Yangtze River Shipbuilding Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for four 325000 deadweight ton ultra large ore carriers in Yangzi Xinfu. This is the first time that Yangtze River Shipbuilding Group has built a 325000 deadweight ton ultra large mineral sand ship. The project is financed by Bank of Communications Leasing and managed and operated by Kukje Maritime Investment Corporation (Kmarin) in South Korea.
Due to the current critical period of epidemic prevention and control both domestically and internationally, Bank of Communications Leasing and Kmarin Shipowners are unable to attend the groundbreaking ceremony on site. After active communication with various parties such as Bank of Communications Leasing and Korean Kmarin, the construction of this project will be completed in the form of "cloud construction".
Mr. Wang Hongbin, Deputy Director of the Jiangyin Office of China Classification Society (CCS), Mr. Liu Yaoyong, Regional Manager of DNV.GL in Jiangyin, Mr. Yan Wenfeng, Site Manager of LR Yangtze River, and Mr. Yang Xueyan, Deputy General Manager of Yangtze Xinfu Shipbuilding, attended the on-site groundbreaking ceremony. The Production Management Department, Quality Management Department, and Business Department actively coordinated to provide on-site cloud live streaming for the Bank of Communications Leasing and Kmarin ship owners who were unable to attend the ceremony.
This batch of four 325000 deadweight ton ultra large ore carriers is the second largest tonnage vessel built by Yangtze River Shipbuilding Group after the 400000 deadweight ton ultra large ore carrier. The ship belongs to the Guaibamax VLOC class, with a total length of 340 meters, a vertical to vertical length of 333.1 meters, a width of 62 meters, a depth of 29.5 meters, a structural draft of 21.4 meters, and a load capacity of 325000 tons. Both ships are classified under the Double Classification Society. Adopting LNG ready design, installing an open desulfurization tower and meeting closed installation design, it will meet IMO Tier II and SOx emission requirements, making it an efficient, energy-saving and environmentally friendly ship. This batch of ships is expected to be delivered gradually from June to December 2021.
